So the wife and I just got new cars. She, a 2016 Mazda CX-3 Touring in White. I a 2015 Mazda6 Grand Touring in Black Mica with the tech package. I went in to the stealership sure I was going to end up with a black Touring 2016 (maybe manual). They happened to have a super (~2500) milage 6 GT with the tech package on the lot. It’s in perfect shape and is exactly what I would have specced out were I building one. Same price as the 2016 Touring would have been.

Everybody is getting cars! Congrats!
I love the Mazda 6. I hope we start selling more of the cx-3. It's met Mazdas goals though!

Nice purchases!

Why was the lightly used 2015 the same price as the new 2016? I mean it is practically new with only 2500 miles, but it should be at least a little cheaper right?

Nice pick ups! It’s great when not only can you get a new car but your wife can get one too! A write up on both would be cool.

The 2015 is a Grand Touring trim, the 2016 was a Touring trim. About $6K difference in price usually.

More Mazdas is always a good thing.

I liked it, and even considered it. At 6'4" it was fine to drive but not something I would want to drive across country in.

Grand Touring + Tech package I think makes it fully loaded. 2016 touring is a base model but don’t quote me.

ALL OF THE MAZDAS!

Random question, whose 2015 Outback is that behind the CX-3?

with tech package it’s around a $6-9k difference depending on the touring’s equipment.
GT is the top package, touring mid-level (volume car) and then there is the Sport that is the “Starting at just...” car.

I have a CX9 for cross country I’ve been debating trading the Fiesta in on a CX3. I miss driving Mazdas. Also I get flack for being an officer in a Mazda Auto Club and daily a Ford.

Awesome! I have a 2016 6 Touring and my wife has a 2013 CX-5 Sport. We love them. Mazda families FTW.

Yup, pretty much this. There aren’t many empty options missing on mine. The Touring I was looking at was almost the same as the GT I ended up with and roughly 7K less than what it would be new new. But at 2500 miles, it’s still pretty much new.

Neighbor. We live in a townhome/apartment complex.

If it’s CPO, at 2500 miles, you actually get more warranty than new as well.

Yup, and yup.

Gorgeous! I’m jealous. Those two deserve a heated garage. Start saving up.

Well, next step after we pay these down a bit is we start looking at houses. I wonder if I can buy a 6 car garage with a house attached? I need to have room for the pair of Saab 96en that I have to get up to me and start restoring.

Ahh that makes sense then!

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal!

Does it affect financing at all though? I know used usually gets worse rates. Unless of course you are paying cash, then its a moot point lol.

Whole lotta wonderful going on right there.

Nice - now if they’d only bring the wagon here (in brown) life would be perfect.

Insulate the garage to live in, and put the cars in the house. Now that would be an interesting renovation to see on HGTV.

Guessing the better half would have a different view of that plan

Slightly. To the tune of about half a percent in my case.

Did you literally buy them both in the same day?

One last night one this morning. Took a long time to do the paperwork.

That’s what I was thinking. Good idea breaking them up.

Let mr get it straight, two new cars, both automatics? Im loosing faith on oppo.

If the Grand Touring model had the manual I would have got that. It’s only available in the Sport and Touring trims and I wanted to get the tech package which was only available in the Grand Touring model. It does have the flappy paddle selector but it’s not awesome.

I understand completely, what you wsnt is what you want, and its the reason manual transmissions will eventually disappear

I tested the Touring manual. If they had had it in black and did not have the fully loaded GT in black, I would have gone that route instead. For my wife’s car, she’s more comfortable in an auto, but can drive manual if needed. For my part, I just wish that they were offering the GT-Tech package with the Skyactiv-MT 6 speed.
